Top Stories

Update: The terms for students living on campus have changed after considering the newest public health concerns and updates. See the latest updates.

The University will begin remote course delivery to address public health concerns related to COVID-19 on Wednesday, March 18. Campus will remain open, as will residence halls. All University operations and business functions will continue.

Entry & Events

Effective immediately, residence halls and apartments will operate as follows.

  • Effective immediately, all residence halls are closed to non-residents. No visitors, including students who live in other campus residence halls, will be admitted beyond the front desk.
  • Students who have chosen to leave campus housing should be aware of the following:
    • Those who need assistance with their belongings should seek help from another student who resides in the same hall as they do or from an RA assigned to that residence hall.
    • Students must make their way to the first floor with their belongings before family members will be permitted to help them.
  • All scheduled events within residential communities are canceled. Additionally, social events/parties are prohibited until further notice. Students are encouraged to practice social distancing and minimize interactions with others as health officials have advised.

Dining

Dining services are carry-out only Cypress Lake Dining Hall and The Brew. All other locations will remain closed until further notice.

The Brew will be open from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Monday-Thursday.

The dining hall's schedule is as follows:

  • Monday-Friday
    • Breakfast, 8-10 a.m.
    • Lunch, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
    • Dinner, 5-7 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday
    • Brunch, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
    • Dinner, 5-7 p.m.

Declining balances for students who have meal plans this semester will roll over to next semester, even if a new academic year begins.

Students who graduate or resign this semester have 90 days to apply for refunds by emailing campusfoodservices@louisiana.edu.

Assistance & Housekeeping

As usual, quiet hours will be enforced from 10 p.m. until 10 a.m. daily. Residential Life and Housing staff are on-call and can be reached via the duty phone number posted at the front desk. The front desk will remain staffed.

Housekeeping services will continue and extra cleaning measures will be taken to help prevent the spread of germs.

Leaving Campus

We understand some students may choose to leave campus although the University is not requiring that they do so. If students decide to leave, they should note the following.

  • Because the University remains open, your housing contract is still in effect.
  • It is recommended that you take all your belongings. The University is not responsible for any personal items left in your room.
  • Please remove any perishable items and all trash before you leave.

Fill Out Housing Information Form

All students who live in residence halls on campus this semester must fill out a form to alert University Housing about your plans.

The Office of Housing and Residential Life has created an Emergency Information form that all residents of University housing must complete to determine which students plan to remain on campus, which students plan to leave, and which students have left already. It also enables students to provide information about considerations such as dietary restrictions.

The deadline to complete the form is March 18 at 8 a.m.

To fill out the form:

  1. Log on to ULink
  2. Click the Campus Services tab
  3. Click on the StarRez Housing Portal
  4. Complete the form about your plans for the near future.

How to Protect Yourself

This situation is evolving, and the University continues to work closely with the Louisiana Office of Public Health to get essential information to the campus community. Remember that to protect yourself and others, you should:

  • Seek immediate medical attention if experiencing fever, cough or having difficulty breathing. Call your doctor or Student Health Services beforehand, so they can prepare for your arrival.
  • Cover your mouth or nose with a tissue or shirtsleeves – not your hands – when coughing or sneezing.
  • Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.

Please monitor University email, official social media accounts and this page dedicated to COVID-19 updates for information. If you have any questions, email oncampusliving@louisiana.edu.
