Spring Move-Out Instructions

As the spring semester comes to an end, it is time to prepare for Spring Move-Out.

Residents should be moved out by Saturday, May 10, 2025.
All residents expected to vacate your room within 24 hours of your last exam, or by 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, 2025, whichever comes first. 

If you have a late final exam or extenuating travel arrangements, you may request an extension to remain in your room via email.

Note: Failure to complete the check-out process will result in charges. After you complete check out, our department will inspect the room to confirm its condition. 

Move Out Instructions:

  1. Clean your space and remove all personal belongings.
  2. Clean refrigerators and microwaves and dispose of any trash from your room
  3. Ensure that all trash and unwanted items are removed from your bedroom, bathroom, and common areas. If trash/unwanted items are found in your room, cleaning charges will be applied to your account.
  4. All students should complete an Express Check Out envelope at your building's front desk.
  5. Complete all the information on the envelope.
    • If you are not returning to live on campus in the Fall and have a PO Box key, place the PO Box key in the Express Check Out envelope.
    • If you have a Ozzi token, place in the Express Check Out envelope.
    • Place your room key, PO Box Key (if applicable), and Ozzi token (if applicable) in the envelope.
    • Drop the envelope in the drop box at each front desk.
    • Once this is done, you will NOT be allowed to return to the halls/apartments. Please make sure all items have been removed.

Note that by using the Express Check Out process, you are waiving your right to appeal any charges under $500. Failure to return key will result in a $200 lock change fee being applied to your account.

Command Strips/Sticky Tack: The resident is responsible for removing all Command Strips and sticky tack from the wall before check-out. Any that are left or cause any damage to the wall will result in a damage charge.

Damage Charges: Based on the condition of your room/apartment, it may be necessary to charge for damages caused in the room/suite/apartment. Once the damages are verified by professional staff, the charges will be assessed to your student account, and an email will be sent to your University email. In the instance that you are charged, be aware that you are responsible for payment of said charges. The University is required to turn over any unpaid debt 60 days after the semester is over to the Attorney General's office.

Improper Checkout: In the event you just pack up your belongings and leave, we consider this an improper check out and will charged in addition to any other necessary charges.

Trash: Be sure all trash and unwanted items are in bags and do not dump loose trash in the trash bins/dumpsters. You should utilize your building’s trash rooms/trash cans to dispose of all trash. If trash room is full, you should bring your trash to the dumpsters outside your building. Do not leave trash in the hallways, breezeways, community rooms, on the floor of your trash rooms, or next to the trash cans.

Parking: Failure to follow instructions below will result in a parking citation

  • Bonin Hall, Coronna Hall, and Harris Hall: Boucher Street will be open during move out week for students to move their belongings to their vehicles. Students should park diagonally along Boucher Street in the 1-hour parking spaces. You will receive a parking citation if you remain parked after one hour.
    • The horseshoe on University Avenue should NOT be used for parking or loading your belongings during move out.
  • Baker Hall and Huger Hall: Utilize parking in the nearby parking tower you are zoned for when moving your belongings to your vehicle.
    • Parking will NOT be allowed on Tulane Street or Taft Street.
    • The Hamilton Lot behind Huger and Baker Halls may be used after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, and all day Saturday, May 10. Parking here during the week will result in a parking citation.
  • Agnes Edwards Hall: Utilize your designated parking zone when moving your belongings to your vehicle.
    • The parking lot behind Dupre Library may be used after 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9, and all day Saturday, May 10. Parking here during the week will result in a parking citation.
  • Legacy Park and The Heritage Apartments: Utilize the parking spots near your apartment when moving your belongings to your vehicle.
    • Please move your vehicle after you are done packing your belongings so others may park close to the building to move out

Staying on Campus for Summer 2025? Due to graduation, full capacity, and fall self-selection of rooms, it will not be possible to allow Summer 2025 students to stay on campus until their summer room is ready. At the end of the spring semester, all current residents must move out, except graduating seniors and apartment residents who are remaining in their same room for the summer. Summer residents will check back into their summer room during the official Summer Move-In on June 7.

If you need to request an exception to stay through the spring-summer break, you must fill out the Late Move-Out Form on the Housing Portal. Each request is reviewed and decided on a case-by-case basis. You will be emailed with a decision, and daily charges will apply for approved stays. The deadline to submit the Late Move-Out Form is May 2, 2025. Any submission after this deadline may not be able to be granted.
